Apply to IU High School

You can apply to IU High School as either a diploma student or a supplemental student. Learn more about the difference between the diploma and supplemental programs on the enrollment options page.

The IU High School Diploma Program

In order to apply to the IUHS Diploma Program you need to have an IU Guest Account. This account will allow you to log into your IUHS courses in Canvas, as well as the IUHS Student System, Genius.

If you already have an IU Guest Account, skip this step.

  • Create an IU Guest Account. The student's legal name must be used when creating the account, not that of the parent/guardian.
  • Activate your IU Guest Account. Follow the instructions in the activation email, which should arrive a few minutes after you create the account.

Note: Failure to activate your guest account will delay your registration process significantly. Complete the activation step before continuing.

If you've already completed the New Student Tutorial in Canvas, skip this step.

  • Use your IU Guest Account to join the New Student Tutorial course in Canvas.
  • Follow the tutorial through information about how to use Genius and how to register for IUHS courses

  • Use your IU Guest Account to log into Genius.
  • If this is your first time in Genius, you will be asked to complete your student profile
  • After completing your student profile, click Diploma Program on the left side menu to begin the application process.
  • Submit your application.

Once your application is submitted, IU High School will contact you to request a list of all of your previous high schools. As soon as we have received transcripts from each of those schools, our advising team will create a personalized academic plan sheet for you.

When you are admitted you will receive an email notification. You will also receive a separate email with a link allowing you to download your academic plan sheet. At this point you will want to contact an IU High School academic advisor to discuss any questions you might have regarding your academic plan sheet or course selections.

The IU High School Supplemental Program

If you plan to take some courses through IU High School but will receive your diploma from another school, you can begin taking courses at any time. You can even apply for the IU High School Diploma Program at a later date if you change your mind.

There is no application or application fee required to take supplemental courses through IU High School, simply follow these steps to get started on your first course in as little as 15 minutes.

View the IU High School course catalog to select and register for your course(s). Subject-specific catalog links are provided at the top of the listing. After selecting your course(s), you'll be directed to Genius to complete your purchase. After your registration is complete, you will be automatically enrolled in the Canvas course(s) you've purchased.
