Christine Hitchcock holds a B.S. in Secondary Education from Indiana University (1994) and a M.A. in History from the State University of New York at Albany (2002). She has taught high school social studies, primarily world history, in Indiana, New York, Virginia, and Ohio. In her current position with Indiana University High School, she works with researchers in IU’s Center for Research on Learning and Technology to design asynchronous online history courses where students from around the U.S. and other countries collaborate in their learning using various technology tools.
She has helped organize three edcamps (Edcamp Penn in 2016 and Edcamp HAT in 2017 and 2018) and presented at the National Council for the Social Studies conference (2016, 2017, 2018) as well as other conferences and education events. Chris has been a co-leader for #sschat (Social Studies Chat), a social media community for social studies teachers, since the fall of 2015 and is also a host of the Talking Social Studies podcast (2016 to present).
In November of 2016, the IU Center for Research on Learning and Technology named Chris as one of five Jacobs Educators for the 2016-2017 school year.
