PSAT, SAT, ACT

PSAT

 The PSAT is  a preliminary “practice” test for the SAT.  You can take it during your 10th grade year or your 11th grade year.

It is given during the month of October.  When taken during your 11th grade year, it is also used as the qualifying test for the National merit Scholarship.  Please check with your local high school counseling department to be put on their list for testing and to sign up for the PSAT.  You will also get any materials from them that will help you prepare for the test.

IUHS is not a test center for the PSAT.  To have the scores sent to IUHS use the code: 150219

 SAT

The SAT is a standardized test used for college admissions. It is best taken for the first time in the spring of your junior year.  The test is intended to assess a student’s readiness for college and not aligned to high school curriculum.  It has a Math section and Language Arts/Reading section with optional writing test.

The SAT offered 7 times throughout the school year.  The tests are given on the first Saturday of October, November, December, January, March, May and June.  You must check the College Board website for further information about the centers nearest you, usually a local high school, and the dates for tests at your closest center.  You will need to register at least one month prior to the test that you want to take.

Students may register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.org   

IUHS IS NOT AN SAT TEST CENTER. The IUHS six-digit code is: 150219.  If you use this number your scores will be sent to IUHS. Be sure to check the website for what you need to bring to your exam and when to arrive at the testing center.  If you are late, you will not be admitted.

 ACT

The ACT is a standardized assessment for college readiness.  It is best taken for the first time in the spring of your junior year.  This test is offered in September, October, December, February, April and June of each year.  Registration deadline is approximately 5-6 weeks prior to the test.

IUHS IS NOT A TESTING CENTER FOR THE ACT.  Our high school six-digit code is:  150219.  Using this code will send your scores to IUHS.

The test consists of an English, Math, Reading, and Science sections, with an optional writing test.

Students may register for the ACT at http://www.actstudent.org   It is there that you will find your closest testing center and the specific dates for this year’s tests.

Be sure to check the website for what you need to bring to your exam and when to arrive at the testing center.  If you are late, you will not be admitted.
