AP courses are designed to

  • give you a head start on college-level work.
  • sharpen your writing and analytical skills.
  • make you stand out in the college admissions process.
  • allow you to study subjects in greater depth and detail.

The courses are available in an independent study online format (12 months), as well as a semester-based online format (four months). Students are invited to select the format that best suits their needs.

Independent Study Format

The independent study online format may be most appealing to students who want the challenge of AP courses but who who prefer additional time to complete their course work.

  • You may register for the independent study versions of AP courses at any time of the year.
  • If you have not taken an IUHS course before, call 800.334.1011 (toll free) or 812.855.2292 to register.
  • If you have previously taken IUHS courses, you can register for the independent study AP courses online using Dragon.

Semester-Based Format

The semester-based format is recommended, but not required, for students planning to take the May 2012 national AP exams. If you do plan to take the national exams, you

  • are encouraged to take both semesters of a two-semester course.

  • have four months to complete your course work during each semester.

  • take your midterm and final exams during designated weeks.

  • are expected to work at a steady pace in between exams.

  • complete your spring semester of course work in plenty of time to take the College Board's May exams.
